Galleria Dallas
Dallas, Texas
Architect: SMWM, OMNIplan and Hargreaves Associates
Contractor: VCC Construction Company
Project Overview:
Planned by SMWM, OMNIplan Architects and Hargreaves Associates, the renovation of the Galleria Dallas Mall was a complete rework of all exterior and interior spaces. This 3 story mall, originally built in the 1980’s and inspired by the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, underwent a total structural re-design of the entire common area, a new entry, new escalators, and a new ice skating rink with a re-modeled floor configuration. Opening up the ground floor space to encourage more free-flowing movement and creating interior retail zoning to create distinct neighborhoods, the Design team sought to mimic the public space of an urban pedestrian experience in European Streetscapes.
ELEMENT contributed crucially to the goal of further stimulating public gathering with custom, curved seating and large sculptural components to the interior of the complex. In addition, our team created specially designed planters accommodating palm trees in the common areas to add an outdoor feel to the indoor space.
